a girl called Ben Started conversation Jul 13, 2003
There have been some conversations about having a mini-meet in Surrey or Kent. The earliest I can manage is late Sept/early Oct which is kinda scarey.
So far boots, Caerwynn, Coelacanth and I have expressed an interest, and I am going to invite Teuchter and Zarquon's Singing Fish, so it looks like a girls' night out!
Post your thoughts, dates, venues and topic drift here...

Hi Ben It's been a long hungover and very sober day! Getting too old to party. The mini meet sounds great. Coelacanth was the one I was trying to think of!. Hi Coelacanth and all...would be great to meet all of you. Sept/oct fine for me. August a bit crammed and start course mid october so the sept/oct windoe looks good. Anything good on at the Fairfield halls then?...Croydon not pretty but sort of half way ish. Bed now didn't finish the contract run and have a 5am start, Joy!
take care

Ben, you're busy *every* night until late Sept? Woo! That's some full up social calender you have! Hi boots. You look pretty busy too. Let's check my diary....
I can probably make any date.

Well, I am either busy with friends or hoping to be indulging my Private Life every weekend till then.
Weekdays are better, but I am a gatecrasher really. I live in Gloucestershire - so weekends are better.

Count me in!
Some Saturdays will be a bit of a problem for me - I have to work every second one. But apart from that I'm available most of the time - and don't mind travelling a wee bit if I get directions etc.
What a jolly good idea! Look forward to meeting you all.

Guildford's good for me - I'm near Camberley.

Somewhere nearer the M4 is better for me if I am going to go home afterwards, but I am pretty easy.
I can stay over with a friend in Lightwater, so Guildford is very good.

Guildford's cool for me too. If anyone needs to overnight and can put up with the offsprungs fetid trainers you're most welcome...can't promise breakfast but the shower was working when I last checked!
take care and looking foward to meeting you all.

I'll go and see if Caerwynn is up for it, then all we have to do is work out dates.
I say "all", in a light-hearted and devil-may-care way, as if it is easy!

Zarquon's Singing Fish! Posted Jul 15, 2003
I have a birthday coming up in September, on the 17th. As I had a grim one last year (dashing to the Isle of Wight to see my father after a heart attack), it might be nice to celebrate it this year.

I remember that - was it a year ago? Blimey! The 17th is a Wednesday.
Have we decided on weekdays or weekends yet? At the moment either is fine for me, but if I start working again, (ha ha!) weekdays would be tough.

Late Sept/early Oct is around the time we are planning a fortnight's holiday. But we haven't confirmed any dates yet, it all depends on H's w*rkload.
Arrange a date and I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Anything from Thurs evening onwards needs booking if you want a table, except Pizza Express and Zizzi where you have to wait anything up to 90 minutes for a table. Which seems ridiculous when there are nearly more restaurants than shops! The pubs too get jammed packed by 9 pm!
All that I can check nearer the time though, happy to do so if we are away over the chosen date.

Well, if we make it a weekday, I can manage more-or-less anytime except the first two weeks of August. (And, boots, can I take you up on your offer of a bed for the night?)
Does that make it easier?

Of course Ben. Weekdays also fine for me. Anytime 14th august through mid october pretty clear.

I've been to the TGI's in Guildford and I remember it being quite empty early on in the week.
Weekdays almost any time during August would be fine by me, but I'd suggest we avoid the 14th and 21st (both Thursdays) since these are exam results day and we might have to share our evening out with lots of drunken teenagers either celebrating or drowning their sorrows.
Once term starts in September I'd find weekends easier and the only time I have something to do is the 13th Sept. Somewhere to stay would be brilliant if anyone has a bit of space but no bother if not.
Has anyone asked Abi yet? She comes into the category.

I didn't realise Abi lived so far outside London.
Weekdays in August are good for me in principle - how about everyone else?

I won't be around in the middle fortnight of August - have to go to a Family Facecracker in Aberdeen!
