Excellent prog - Thanks for sorting the link out.

'twas good, after all the spaces of silence, graphics and no science were removed.
Do discuss it on the other forum aswell...

Hello there, how do I join the astro society ?
Thanks for the tip on the Horizon prog, Its onw of those progs I would
normally have missed , much to my anoyance.Ive checked out the currnt conversations on the prog and have to agree it posed more questions than it answered, but then again this sort of sientific 'discovery' is based on a great deal of suposition until someone is able to actually prove or disprove it at a later date.(not supprising realy when you consider the huge dimensions of the subject, we can only go by remote (and out of date due to distance) observations.
Anyway back to muy original point, if anyone can tell me how I can join the H2G2 astronomical soc I would be most gratefull.
cheers.
DG

Good evening, this is the.... web master. Ha, yeah right!

Welcome thought, I'm glad the site is usefull. Ok, if you just tell me what sort of things you like in the way of astronomy then I'll pop you in the table. Then you can put one of those neat little badges on your homepage as a link (the GuideML is somewhere in the forum a little way back)

Cool,
Nick

OK, TV prog schedule is being worked upon at present with Professor Sarah Bellum, though it will be for the UK, so in anyone from anywhere else could do one I'll gladly put up the details smiley - smiley

Site of the week and month sound good. (day could get a little hary) Start trawling the bandwiths and send some in.

Cheers,

Nick
(I will update this site, sorry I'm lagging)

The solar immage should change every day-other day. I would like some of your articles to put up links to.

And about you Dirk G, for the table.

What's to tell...well I'm interested in anything astronomical and well up there, owner of only a small refractor but hopefully will be joining my local group soon ( Hampshire Astronomical Group).
Increasingly annoyed with the levels of light polution and the generally crappy weather here in he UK.

Cool, yeah I have a refractor, 60mm, but think I've broken it when having a look at it's lenses. Now when I look through I get a line of Jupiter rather than a spot of Jupiter. Anyone help me?

Oh, where is hampshire, cos I'm at Soton University at the mo and was wondering about the local AS.

And Light polution is an arse if you'll excuse the language, 'tis why I have the light pollution petition.

I'll put up your info soon.

Hi Yeliab,
Sounds like the collimation is out on your scope.
Mines a 60mm too.
The Hampshire Astro is north of portsmouth(the other side of Portsdown Hill luckily) well away from most of the polution. They have a web-site(search on Hampshire Astronomical Group).
I know what you mean about light polution though, as I live just outside Portsmouth I can see vertually nothing to the south( thankyou Portsmouth city council !)
I'll be sure to check out your pertition and add my name.
Must go as the Discovery channel's about to show the latest in its series of space programs following on from the one the weekend on the International Space Station (starts at 10pm tonight)
Bye now
DG

The collimation then. Ok, do you know how I may go about sorting it. I do have this amazing [ly anoying] habit of breaking things in the persuit of learning how they work. Arg.

Any one in the UK (or elsewhere) planning to check out the Lunar Eclipse ?

Hapily dude, as long as it's clear, which it curently isn't. 'Twas a beautiful night last night, moon so bright it did obscure most dim stars but 'twas lovely all the same.

Anyone seen the latest Astronomy Now? Mainly UK, but with a reasonably good book selling store e.g Barnes and Noble, they should stock it. Anyway it is a clear informative article and is what AstrĂ´nomo is working on, make sure you ask lots of questions.

*fingers crossed for slear skies*

It actually has been clear. Slight cloud at the beginning, and it's now clear as the perverbial bell. What an eclipse! Really gorgous red, and quite astonishing the speed and dramatic lighting, don't I want thet as my wallpaper!

Anyone take any piuctures? I tryed but don't think the'll turn out. I love astronomical event's, where you can tell people about what;s happening, so cool.

Nick, thankfully with clear skies!

Eclipse, ahh the beauty

Post 118

Yeliab {h2g2as}

Wow, that really was stunning. A sort of redie orange with a dusty brown southern pole. Exiting from totality was superb, like watching scenes from a movie where daylight breaks over the Earth. The light sudenly touched the western limb and rays of light streamed over the globe. Sheer brilliance.
