Welcome to H2G2! I hope your time here is leisurely and enjoyable. There is a lot of information available, some useful, some not, so feel free to browse wherever you want.

If you're interested in contributing to the Guide, it's pretty simple. Just click on "Add Guide Entry" and write about anything under the sun.

It's got loads of helpful information, much of which I found useful in writing my first entries.

Hello Mothlamp, I saw your bit about GuideML, and this site www.walton.uklinux.net has a program that MaW(a ACE at h2g2) wrote to help people with GuideML. Check it out, it may come in handy. I use it.

I fear I'm an Editing Purist, and tend to stick to vi if at all possible. :o)
Being a documentation geek, I've already had a good leaf through what GuideML does. I do have a question though; is it possible to use GuideML in these posts? When I use it and preview a message, it doesn't appear to work.

No, you can't use any kind of scripting language in a forum post. But you can make smileys like this and this . But that's about all you can do. The URL's put in will be come links, such as http://www.h2g2.com. But again that's all it can do.

Righto, thanks. Actually, I hate those smileys. :o) I was delighted when I found that the smiley I use - that one just there - hasn't been made into a graphic yet. :o)
