I live in a suburb of Denver, and I can verify that this particular patch of grass is peculiar indeed, and very unlike most patches of grass in the ultra-dry Denver climate.
It is a cultural imperative in Denver to create the illusion that there is plenty of water, when in fact water rights are in constant contention between various constituents here and in California. Having a *soggy* patch of grass can only be described as showing off. But yes, it does draw people like flies during lunchtime.

It's *green*. Even the golf courses aren't very green out here.

I'm on the east coast. Green happens here. Not so much this time of year though..more like red and orange and yellow now.
