Can't resist that offer! Thank you so much, Bluebottle. Would you care to share a pot of tea with me?

*Collects the post as they go inside. Finds a letter from a good friend who lives on the Isle of Wight! smiley - bigeyes*

Oh, look!! Its arrived! I've been expecting this. (opening it) Oh, lovely! Look at the colorful brochures! I'd love to go see these places. And a nice Christmas card and letter. This is wonderful!! I'll write back immediately. smiley - winkeye

So it *did* arrive, then?
I was beginning to doubt it ever would... Well, Happy New Millennium!
The good thing about thatch is it's ability to be warm in winter and cool in summer...

Yes, it arrived and made me very happy. smiley - bigeyes Thank you! What kind of tea would you like, and more importantly, what kind of cake did you bring? (hoping for fudgy chocolate type cake)

Come in and sit at the kitchen counter while I make the tea. I've never lived in a thatched cottage before. I like it very much.

Funny you should say that, as I brought a fudgy chocolate type cake.
Here you go
*Hands over a smiley - cake*

My great-aunts live in a thatched cottage on the Island - the trick is to duck when you walk about or you'll hit your head a lot. smiley - injured

You are a gem of a guest!! This smiley - cake is delicious. Thank you!

*Pours his tea (darjeeling, hope that's ok?!!)*

Are your great-aunts short or tall? Do they have to constantly go around ducking their heads too? Or is it just the occasional nephew who stops in who has to mind the rafters?

Post 13

Bluebottle

Hmm... I've absolutely no idea what darjeeling tea is, but I expect it's fine. smiley - smiley
My aunts are all short - little old ladies, you know, but alas one of them is in hospital at the moment. smiley - cry

And thankyou! I got the reply to your letter today!
(and exactly which photo of me do you have...?)

Darjeeling comes from the slopes of the Himalayas, and it is a medium strength black tea. Very tasty! One of my favorites.

I'm glad you got the letter! smiley - bigeyes

Hope your Aunt is getting better...

I took the photo of you building a house of cards with a yellow sticker on your cheek!! LOL! Its from the meet.

Oh right, THAT photo. Only, they weren't cards, it was those packets of vinegar you get in pubs... smiley - winkeye

By the way - If you liked finding out about my home town of Sandown, I've done an article on Sandown Pier which should be approved as this week's University Project on Wednesday. smiley - smiley

And I'll have to try some of that tea. smiley - smiley

If you want the full tour, just remember to set aside at least 10 years of your life - it may look small, but there's a lot of interest there. smiley - smiley
So, how's life in your part of the world?

(carefully setting aside the required 10 years)

Life in Wisconsin is chilly and cold. I have a frozen pipe in the barn that needs thawing so I can bring water to the goats. The driveway was snowy, thawed a bit, and now is thick ice. The sky is grey and the wind is blowing. Brrr!

Hope you had a wonderful birthday! Did you get any smiley - gift?

Someday Thatching

Post 19

Bluebottle

Yep, I got a dalek, a new camera and some HMV vouchers. smiley - biggrin
One day I'd like to see that much snow - seeing some snow would be an improvement - but alas, what can we do?

I would like to point out that I have been waiting since January to get my Cottage thatched. If you don't get back to me with the estimate I will be forced to take my business elsewhere.... in the meantime, can I freshen up your smiley - tea ???

smiley - laugh
