There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho Started conversation Sep 8, 2015
And yet it seems like only yesterday that I stepped off the plane onto the soil of Texas for the first time on September 8th, 1999. That's like a whole nother century or something
Seriously though, although I do have some regrets, like not going to the Sex Pistols or Joy Division when I had the chance, there are plenty of things I've never regretted for a moment; this is one of them. For now, anyway. We'll see how things go when I (try to) retire with no savings.
On the few occasions I've had an opportunity to leave Austin, and Texas, I've found it hard to do, and in fact, haven't. Austin's changed out of all recognition in the past three or four years so that might change, but I honestly can't think of anywhere I'd like to go, except maybe Bend in Oregon, but the rents and property prices there are almost as high as here, so I understand.
I still sometimes have to pinch myself, firstly when I realise I'm here, and secondly when I realise that I'm a citizen now. That really does make me go
