There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

If I wake up at 5am, get up at 5.30am, leave for work at 7am, work from 8.00am until 8.30pm, get home at 9.30pm and go to bed at half past midnight feeling like I could sleep for a week (beer was a factor), how come I still wake up at 6am the following morning, despite having turned off the alarm?

If yesterday was a cold, drizzly day with little wind, and if it's raining this morning, how come my cedar fever is worse than it's been so far this season?

If the St Custards/Nigel Molesworth books of Geoffrey Willans and Ronald Searle are so good, how come the recent BBC adaptation was so very bad?

I think we all know who's to blame.

It's got to be either Obama or 2legs.

Here's another. If all the bathtubs in this complex are ordinary, straight-sided baths, why has the company who owns the complex replaced all the straight shower curtain rails with curved ones?

Witty Moniker

It's the fashion. Theoretically, it gives you a little more elbow room.

It sure doesn't give you extra elbow room when you're sitting on the po. It's like being smothered by a mound of bicycles. And it really doesn't do much when you're in the shower.

I don't know about the shower curtains, but the St Custards/Molesworth was the single worst bit of radio I've mistakenly listened to for a good long time. It made my ears bleed, so I turned it off while I still had strength.

Q - Did you listen to this though? Kenny Everett biography
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01n4h2n - I really enjoyed various old clips and reminiscences from Radio Caroline

I put a curved shower curtain rod up in my bath. I enjoy the extra room more than I expected. But when I'm sitting, as you say, I open the shower curtain to get it out of the way.

It was even worse in the old place, before the smouldering. The bathroom there was tiny. Any square footage of floorspace was needed.

I haven't heard the Kenny Everett yet Lanza, but it's on my list for this week. There's been a lot of good stuff on recently - The Skivers, A Look Back at the 90s, a new series of Wireless Nights, the final two episodes of Cabin Pressure, series 3 of I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again (the first one with Cleese I think).

And always The Goons smiley - biggrin

I'm devastated (well not quite) that Cabin Pressure is ending - its wonderful script writer, John Finnemore is becoming more visible - if that is the right word, he was on 'haven't a clue' seemingly replacing Barry Cryer. He was good. Did you hear his series Souvenir Programme? that is well worth a listen.

I must admit, I haven't listened to Souvenir, but I think I might have heard a clip or two. Cabin Pressure was quite, quite wonderful smiley - bigeyes How did they blag Benedict Cumberbatch (did you notice that I resisted the urge to turn his name into gibberish?) into a starring role (not that any one of the actors was the sole star - they all were) on a radio comedy by a virtually unknown writer, who (as seems to be the fashion these days) wrote himself a part.

Mind you, Roger Allam is no small name either. His character was so different to the one he played in The Queen, and probably my favourite in Cabin Pressure. No-one does dripping sarcasm better smiley - bigeyes

Sho - employed again!

gosh, I'm so glad I had no idea Molesworth was going to be on the radio. Saved that disappointment.

I can't sleep at the mo, either. Not sure why.

You really didn't miss anything Sho. And it was adapted by Patrick Barlow (Nat. Theatre of Brent as any fule kno), who also played Headmaster GRIMES, and not at all the way I imagine him from Ronald Searle's drawings. I mean to sa, I think that's the first thing he's done in the past 30 years that I havn't enjoyed.
