There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho Started conversation Dec 26, 2014
My very first h2g2 Personal Space, written a week after I joined, included far more information about me than I'd be likely to put anywhere on teh interwebs these days, what with identity theft and all, but it included this (edited) paragraph (I kept a copy of the, er, copy):
"I hate to cook, but I love to wash dishes. I know how to make lettered rock. I don't 'get' Charlie Chaplin. I've never owned a video recorder, a pc, a personal stereo, or a cd player, although I rented a VCR for a year, and this pc belongs to my wife, so according to the wedding vows, it's technically mine too. Nor have I ever seen a 'Rocky' movie. I finished The Times crossword once. I can get to Elvis Presley three different ways in three, four, and five degrees of separation. I'm a member of The Procrastinators Club of America..... or at least, I will be when I send my request for an application form. I put it in an envelope about 7 years ago, I just haven't got round to sending it off yet. I'll do it tomorrow."
Things have obviously changed since then.
I like cooking a whole lot more than I did then, but I sure don't love it, and nor does it love me, on far too many occasions
We (the former Mrs Gosho and I) did own a video recorder for a while (and I still have most of the tapes, though Bob knows how I'll ever get to see them), and so did I later on, but I still haven't actually gone into a shop and bought one.
Nor have I gone into a shop and bought a PC. I built two, though, so owning a PC is ticked off the list.
And nor have I still bought myself a personal stereo, but I finally got to own one this year when Mrs G gave me an iPod for my birthday. I used it mostly for listening to the wireless while I'm on the bus, or sometimes a BBC radio programme, but although music has been such an important thing to me for as long as I can remember, I still don't feel the need to listen to it at every opportunity.
I've still never seen a Rocky film, and one other thing I didn't include on the list, and still haven't done, is to wear a baseball cap back-to-front. I do have a flat cap which I wear in that fashion though. Mrs Gosho's grandma gave it to me several Christmases ago and it just doesn't look right on me the right way round. When I wear it in a Samuel L Jackson stylee though it looks much better.
I still don't get Charlie Chaplin.
I enjoy cryptic crosswords, but they still don't come easy to me, and my crossword puzzle helper is becoming ever more dog-eared these days.
I can get to Elvis in so many ways now, in six degrees of Bacon or less, that I've lost count. I can also get to Queen Victoria in four, two different ways, via HM QE2 and HM QE the QM, and therefore also Stalin, Churchill, FDR and Hitler. I reckon most of us can, you know, leastways if you're British.
And the envelope containing the application to join the Procrastinator's Club of America is still in a drawer here at Castle Gosho, waiting to be posted.

I might even squeeze Chaplin in before Laurel & Hardy.
