There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

I've always rather liked them. There was good telly on a Thursday - Top of the Pops for one. Thursday was a Blue Peter day. The Goodies were on a Thursday, and Minder, I think. Monty Python, after Colditz.

I used to like bunking off work on a Thursday. It just seemed right for it. The bulk of the working week was out of the way, tomorrow was payday, and Thursday had a feeling of ease about it. Go to the caff and get a fryup while everyone else is at work.

Thursday was music paper day. Go to the newsagents and pick up an NME, a Melody Maker, oh, and a copy of the Radio times too please. Ta very much.

Some of the ITV regions used to put an arts/listing programme on at 10.30pm, after the News at Ten. In Manchester during the late 70s it was What's on with Tony Wilson (I first saw Jilted John on that programme), and ten years later I liked to watch 01 For London with Richard Jobson (and his three-piece whistles). Mind you, if you forgot and didn't the television off quickly enough you'd get sucked into an episode of Prisoner Cell Block H which came on afterwards. Nightmare.

There was speedway on a Thursday night for three seasons ("This is your programme" "You can have two for two shillings"), until some killjoy complained about the noise and got it stopped.

When I was running my man and a van business Thursday was usually my one day off because I worked Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights, I had a regular delivery run on Fridays, I was always extra busy on Saturday and Sunday with moving people who didn't want to take time off during the week, and I didn't want to have Wednesday as my day off because after working Tuesday night I didn't get up until at least noon, and there's no sense in only getting a half day.

So yeah, I guess I've always been able to get the hang of Thursday.

Dea.. - call me Mrs B!

We tend to work intense 18 hour days weekends Fri-Sun, Monday is a catch-up day so housework, laundry, shopping, paying bills etc, work Tuesday and Wednesday for normal hours, then Thursday is our one day off to kick back, sleep a bit later, have our Sundayish roast (with leftovers for the weekend sandwiches and quick dinners when we come home at midnight)

It's 2.30am here now, gotta be up by 7 and just making sure that sandwiches, snacks and drinks are ready for tomorrow's onslaught.

So the thought of a sleepy, easy Thursday is music to my ears!

Normally, Thursdays are my Fridays (I work 4-10s).

I look forward to getting off work each Thursday, then I typically go to the local pubs.

But, usually at the end of the night, I'm... disappointed.

I think it's because of the folks I usually see at my local pub at the high point of the evening (after starters and before the last bar on my way home). Some of them are obnoxious asshats who can't NOT talk politics, usually with a tea party bent. Some of them are just dull. My old friends don't go out on Thursdays anymore. I really should get out of my rut.

So, I guess, right now, I can't get the hang of Thursdays. (But this one has been fun so far... Oh, Wait... It's Friday... I had to work today after the Shut Storm 2013! I'm all thrown off.)
