No, it just doesn't. 'Dog-end' would work, though. Do Americans use that term or is that just over here too?

A brief Google seems to suggest that's mostly a UK usage, too. Including an American who's baffled by the term appearing in a Jethro Tull song.

Nope, dog-end is unknown here, but Americans call these nasty things cigarette butts, so 'butt-end- would seem like a good alternative. Maybe they just had some British-written copy with fag-end in it and simply substituted cigarette for fag.
