There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

The former Mrs Gosho took me to an Indian supermarket in south Austin today. I knew what I was going to look for - loose tea and gulab jamun, mostly, and maybe one or two other things.

Gulab jamun is one of my weaknesses. When I used to schlep fabric out to Heathrow a couple of times a week in my van I'd come back in along the Western Avenue, onto the Westway and then down onto the Marylebone Road, just so that I could take a little detour and stop off at one of the Indian sweet centres on Drummond Street, just to the west of Euston Station, to buy a box of gulab jamun, take them home and eat them after a hard day's graft. My opinion of an Indian restaurant was heavily based on whether or not they had gulab jamun on the menu.

Some of them in Austin do, some don't.

So there we were this morning, and in the chiller cabinet there was a box of gulab jamun, ready-made. I'm having that, I thought. After a little more browsing I found a box of gulab jamun mix, which I also bought, being about the same price as the ready-made but making several times the quantity. I could have put the box of ready-made back... couldn't I? smiley - whistle Didn't smiley - biggrin

So I have, in my kitchen right now, 115 gulab jamun, either ready or the potential for smiley - blush And three kilos of loose tea - Tetley strong smiley - tea

Should last me about a week smiley - tongueout

I've just had a look at the packaging on the ready-made ones: "Refrigerate after opening and consume within three days".

I guess that means I'll have to eat five a day. I'll do my best.
