Mother Nature has apparently decided it's payback time for all that mild(ish) weather we've been having since December. But, it's the second week in May now, and although summerer is just around the corner, it still feels as if winter has only just passed into spring, so I'm grateful for that.

London,
Last night's showers must have occurred after I was a kip, the garden soil is clearly damp this morning but the drive tarmac is already dry.
Today (Thursday) dry, more cloud than yesterday but more than 50% sunny, noticably cooler than yesterday high 16C low 6c. more breeze today which is pleasant 10mph W now dropping to 5mp S tonight.

When I left for work yesterday it was overcast but clear. When I got off the bus at the other end there was thick fog, or maybe (very) low cloud. Low enough to not quite reach the ground, but not far off. Only four or five stories of that tall building near the bus stop were visible.

I see we have already reached the point where the Low in Austin is higher than the High in London.
Anyway, today in London
High 18C (65F) Low 10C (50F), 50% cloud band of showers due through this evening but only a 20% chance of getting wet, wind 15mph dropping towards 5mph from the south, but looking out the window I think 15 may be ambitious as it is a lot lower than that at the moment.

I was wrong about the wind, looked calm out the window, ut when I walked o the Co-op it was certainly breezy.

It's almost at that point now where I shan't need any bedclothes for about three months. I went to bed last night with a sheet over me but I had to throw it off after I woke up a few hours later sweating.

London
I wont have that problem here today...
Showers went through last night as forecast, then a dry start to the morning before more showers starting before lunch and now heavier showers and a few longer spells of rain throuh the afternoon before dying away to showers again this evening.
High 15C low 10C, winds about 5mph starting SW moving to S.
The showers and rain bands are expected to stay over us until late on Sunday, so a typical London weekend.
Next week isupposed to be drier, which will be nice as I'm off to Minehead next weekend.

The showers for today decided to run up the cannel and then out over Kent & Essex missing London So today is looking a lot better than earlier forecasts.
Still cool with a high of 16 or 17C depending on which forecast you see and a low of 9C tonight, mostly white cloud with occasional sunny breaks, winds 5 - 7 mph NW less than 5% chance of rain (Still take a coat as the forecast keeps changing)

It looks like we're back to normal pattern of recent years - temperatures 5-10°F above average. "Hottest weather since August" it says here http://spectrumlocalnews.com/tx/austin/weather/2018/05/14/weather-blog-051418-5am

I might have to figure out a way to start factoring in the heat index soon. It got up to 94 yesterday. This past week at work has been pretty unpleasant. This coming Thursday and Friday look even worse. There will be 100° heat index readings for sure.

Not only are we expecting record high temps this week, most days will also be "ozone action days".

Another 94° heat index yesterday. I wouldn't be surprised if we had a few ozone action days too. We had one either last Saturday or the Saturday before. The buses in Austin used to be free on ozone days. I don't think they do that any more.
