h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Hi there, darlin'!

Saw your title, and the ACE badge, and thought I'd pop in and see if you can help me with a little problem I'm having. My place was nuked by Peta cause someone found it offensive and complained. In my opinion, it was not pornography or obscene, merely erotica, that was removed. And as those terms are subjective, I was wondering if you might be able to enlighten me as to exactly what the limits around here are. Do they remove anything someone considers objectionable or offensive? If so, I'd better prepare for my MOG place to go up in smoke, too, for heresy. I'm sure plenty of people will find the Peetie God stories offensive. There are people here with no sense of humor. MOG has tangled with at least one.

Not sure if this is part of your job description, but it doesn't hurt to ask. If you have any advice for me, I'd sure appreciate it, as I'm having a lot of fun here, and would be saddened to have to leave town.

Guy? I think not...last time I checked, I was a female...don't worry, common mistake! I get that all the time...some people chat with me quite frequently and then suddenly get that revelation months later!

Anyway, in regards to your question, merely offensive to SOME people doesn't really seem to bother the people at h2g2. I know this from experience--after all, I manage an anti-Bill Gates club, and my cousin presides over a club for atheists, and the people who do get offended just state their comments and get into a good old-fashioned argument.

However, there are some things that h2g2 doesn't like. The terms are at http://www.h2g2.com/Terms, and they're not really strict, just reasonable. And you're right--someone probably did complain about the place, and that's the only time that the h2g2 people get involved in this, really.

Basically, as long as you're not offending too many people and not offending them too much, you should be fine.

Sorry about the gender mixup--really need to get that intermittent omniscience problem fixed, once and for all. But you know how it is--take it to the shop and everything works just fine. 10 minutes out the door and it starts knocking and pinging again. *sigh* The woes of modern technology...

I appreciate your advice. Have already read and reread the terms, and still see no clearcut guidelines. Will give some thought about keeping MT here, might be better to just shut down her house and move her to another town where the laws are a little more clearly defined. Had hopes of turning her into a real geisha, instead of just the town tramp, but can't see putting the effort into it and then having her nuked again.
