Could you be bothered to find a link to imagery of the end of a formula one race?
There's a third way of opening a bottle: use a sword and away the bottleneck! See Tolstoi, Peace and War, or your local student's club

I like the article a lot. I never knew either, probably because I can't drink legally. But I think "sinched" is spelled "cinched" unless you're specifically talking about a sinch on a horse saddle.

Thanks! I knew it didnt look right somehow .. Ill fix that. And yes .. there are other ways to open a bottle .. there's also the 'smashing the top off' method .. let me put in a few nids and tucks.

The in-house editors have selected this entry of inclusion into the Edited Guide!
This means that you've cleared one of the first hurdles, but you've still got a few more to go.
From here the entry will be given 'recommended' status and will appear on the 'What's Coming Up?' page http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/ComingUp
It will languish there until it is assigned to a Subeditor for editing. When the Sub is done with it, an in-house editor will check over the Sub's work. Then it will join the queue for the front page (or it might take a detour to the art queue where it will be given a pretty picture by the in-house artist).
When it appears on the front page, you'll receive an email from Mark and you'll receive the praises of your fellow Researchers!
Cheers!

I'm glad to see your article has been recommended. Is it too late to add a section on how to pour champagne? This would seem to be the place to put it, rather than in a separate article. I'm sure you know the drill - lay out all the glasses, pour a little bit into each, wait for fizz to subside, top up. Or for motor racing enthusiasts and Kenny Everett fans, pour all over everything, missing glasses by miles.
Congratulations!

*g* .. maybe they will stick that in .. I really should get around to writing an entry on Bubbly proper.
