I'm back now, which could either be very good or very bad; I was sent home after only one interview, which basically means they either really want me or they really don't want me. Oh well. Watch this space...

Hi!
I noticed you were claiming to be a potential future Oxbridge reject so I thought I'd come and join you so that we can be future potential Oxbridge rejects together
Which college did you apply to? My mates there y'see and she only had one interview and that was enough...I think it's definitely a good sign!
I had my interviews at Cambridge last week and they were fun... When do you get told how your's went? Is it soon or in January like Cambridge?
Anyway, good luck, I'm sure you've done great

Emily 'Twa Bui' Ultramarine Posted Dec 17, 2000
It's soon - a couple of days in fact. My boyfriend's already heard actually (and got in), but I've applied for English, so the chances of me getting in are pretty damn slim. The College is Hertford, incidentally.
What subject have you applied for? Good luck to you as well...

Tinkerbell *tumbleweed* Posted Dec 17, 2000
That's great! Well not the few days part but your boyfriend getting in...at least you won't get it on Christmas Eve
Hertfords great, my mate who's there now had her whole family go to Hertford...admittedly they're teaching her the same course as her Grandfather did but still
*grins*
I applied for English too! Did you have to sit an exam for it or is that just one of the foolish things Cambridge does?
Oxford Interview
Emily 'Twa Bui' Ultramarine Posted Dec 17, 2000
Just one of those foolish things Cambridge does, I think; at Hertford there's only one interview, and they go mainly on the UCAS form and the two essays you send in prior to interview. Ah well...
So do you hear sometime in January?
Oxford Interview
Tinkerbell *tumbleweed* Posted Dec 17, 2000
I knew I should have applied to Oxford...we had to send the essays as well but then had another application form specifically to Cambridge which was almost as long as the UCAS form and then there was another questionnaire about a month before hand. Then on the day we had two interviews, an unseen poetry critique and a practical critiscism exam...which was joyeous
Well we're meant to be told at the end of December I think... Generally it's actually on New Years Eve so that'll be a great party if I get turned down

Eeeeee - nasty. Still, good luck.
I just got an email from one of the girls I met at interview - same course, same college - and she's already heard. Well, I assume so, since it was blank except for the title 'officially an Oxford reject'. She's after me in the alphabet... ohhh, I'm getting so stressed... I know I shouldn't; you can't read anything into anything.
Oxford Interview
Tinkerbell *tumbleweed* Posted Dec 18, 2000
You too!
Well if she's after you then I assume that measn you're in and should change your name to (soon to be an oxbridge student) in preparation I bet you'll get told tomorrow so well done in advance as I read your UCAS form entry and I was very impressed so I'm sure they will have been too

Emily 'Twa Bui' Ultramarine Posted Dec 18, 2000
Thanks all the same, but I'm not getting my hopes up - if I was in, they'd probably have told me first. Oh, I don't know, and who does?
By the way... could I read your section 10 please?

coelacanth Posted Dec 22, 2000
Hey Em! They're bound to tell the rejects first so that they can begin the process of considering other options. I'm sure this is good news for you. Let me know.

coelacanth Posted Dec 31, 2000
Oh well, I can see from your change of name what happened. I'm so sorry to hear that, but you are being positive. Keep
Happy New Year Emily.

Tinkerbell *tumbleweed* Posted Dec 31, 2000
Hi,
Sorry to hear about that
But reapplying's cool, that's what I've done and they've just told me I've been pooled which hopefully means more interviews and a place somewhere just not where I applied...hopefully! And gap years are great fun too, it's really good to get a break between college and uni...
Anyway have a good New Year and I'll tell you what happens when they finally tell me on January the 30th!

Well, I hope you get in (don't ask me what I'm doing here - after spending a year at what was a Technical Uni, I transferred to one of those 'New University' thingies and now I'm in the big wide world of work, I'm _still_ studying...it never stops...ARRRRRRGH!)
Though my limited experience of the people at Oxford, they were all pretty decent tykes
