i have not been part of the guide for too long, but i enjoy talking, and discussing merits and what could be added to various entries. i would also like to learn how to tell people what they should add without being rude. for these reasons i would like to join the h2g2 scouts.

It's difficult to tell exactly - it depends how many people drop out of the Scouts scheme. There's about 10 people in from of you. A couple of months, maybe. Perhaps more.
