Very nice entry.
The bit about Yates dying in 2000 kind of took me by surprise. Do you think you could add a tiny bit more detail into the circumstances of her death?
Also, I seem to remember an INXS video playing on MTV in the early to mid-80s which I would assume was their first state-side hit? So memorable that I don't remember the name of the song sadly, though I think it featured a bunch of people sitting around a dinner table...
But a nice little entry about a guy who left us too soon (whatever the circumstances).

Hello Jimi
Thank you for reading my entry
I've just had this picked for editing: A5249063 (the link is the first reference to Paula) I go into (graphic) detail about her death in that entry.
Do you think I need to repeat it in this one?
I honestly don't have a clue about INXS's music, I don't recall the video, I thought I'd list the albums to pad out the INXS section, as he spent 20 years (more than half his life) in that band.
I don't watch MTV either -
Did you like the little quotes about his ladies...
I get the impression he was what we delicately call here "sex on a stick" he certainly had bedroom eyes

>>I would assume was their first state-side hit ... don't remember the name of the song<<
Are we talking about "Listen Like Theives" the single from the album with the same name? It was certainly the single that broke them in the UK, culminating in them supporting Queen at Wembley in '86. Maybe that's too detailed for a Hutchence entry though? What we need is an INXS entry. (Hope this doesn't sound like I'm volunteering though?)
'Full Moon, Dirty Hearts', I'm sure wasn't a '93 album (I'm now doubting myself though). Maybe was re-released then, but sure it's from before 'Listen'. I'm on hols, so I'll check my collection when I get back.

I'm talking rubbish (should've checked my facts _before_ hitting the post button). Just been to the official INXS site and have found 'Full Moon' _was_ released in '93.
They did record some unreleased material from 'Full Moon' in 98 ... but I'm just making excuses now ... I'll get my coat ...

Gasp!
I actually did some research...
The song I was thinking of was THE ONE THING (JULY 1982). This was back in the early days of MTV when anyone who had made a video got airtime.
I'm having trouble finding if that one charted here in the states, though I seem to recall that it was a big song.

Did you read my recommended entry on Paula Yates, Jimi? If so, what did you think?
There's a book about to hit the shops called "Paula, Bob & Michael - everything you know is wrong" I hope all my research isn't wrong

Great entry GB! I just wonder if you might want to mention that INXS have toured with other singers since Hutchence's death, and are currently involved in a Pop Idol-style reality TV show to try and find a permanent replacement...

Thanks
Well, I would, but the entry is about Michael Hutchence who died 8 years ago - not INXS, so updates on INXS without Michael really don't belong in this entry. And no, I'm not writing an entry on INXS.

I normally adore your entries GB and thought your Geldof was superb. I couldn't wait to read this. However, I found it disappointing because it read like a tabloid account of his life. You say that you weren't going to do an entry on INXS. Fair enough, but without that I'm afraid this seems lightweight. I have real problems with your use of the phrase 'a Shakespearean tragedy' to describe the treatment of the relationship. It was actually treated as a sordid little mess.
You don't mention the 'In Bed With Paula' on the Big Breakfast which was where they met - surely an important point.
The incident at the funeral almost seems to be there for shock value. What on earth was the point of mentioning it? It adds nothing to the story at all.
You seem to have written this purely to complete a trio of entries, and I think that is a shame. When compared to your other entries such as the brilliant Karen Carpenter entry - one of the best pop star treatments in the guide - this is a superficial and messy account. It's a problem when you clearly have no real interest in Hutchence's professional life.
You know the esteem I hold you in. This is not flaming. It is my honest opinion which I owe you for everything you have given to me. Sorry in advance if this annoys you. It will almost certainly get on the front page, but I will not be reading it. Sorry.

I'm sure GB is more than capable of standing up for herself, but it doesn't seem good form to post in PR just to say that you don't like an entry while giving barely any constructive criticism or comments.
Although you say you hold GB in high esteem, I can't for the life of me understand why you'd tell someone you regard well that you won't read their finished entry - in PR of all places! I can't see any need for that type of comment - if that's how you feel than I don't see why you need to announce it, in front of everyone else, in a thread intended for comments to improve entries.
That sort of totally negative feedback isn't appropriate for PR.
If you can't help with suggestions or extra content, then don't hinder.

Yah well... Let's not engross our thoughts on this Mina. summerbay thought the Entry is superficial, end of the story.
I liked it. Other people liked it. Summerbay, I think you should see this from a different perspective: One day, someone will come up with a final complete in-depth Entry with all of Hutchhence's life dissected. In the meantime this one can perfectly stand in the EG.

I suspect part of the problem is that at least in the UK Michael Hutchence's life *was* a tabloid nightmare. While I'd love us to have a decent entry on INXS, I do thinkt that this shouldn't be penalised for not being that entry. Once we have an INXS entry this will look a lot more appropriate, I expect.
Just a couple of comments, GB.
The 'Early life' subheader needs to be a Header.
I'm not sure how appropriate it is to have a discography here - maybe leave that to whoever writes the proper INXS entry? but for reference, INXS's first UK release was 'What You Need' in 1986, though it only reached 51 in the charts. Their first single to break the Top 40 was 'New Sensation' (Number 25) in 1988, then 'Never Tear us Apart' (24) and a rerelease of 'Need You Tonight' (number 20 which gave them their only UK top 10 hit.
INXS did not play at Live Aid. They took part in an Australian benefit linked to Live Aid but was not part of Bob Geldof's event. A lot of countries participated in their own way, including Russia, and INXS were one of (I think) only two Australian acts whose set was broadcast as part of the BBC's main coverage (the otehr being Midnight Oil).
Pop a few tags around your trivia bits.
And pop the links at the bottom into tags.

Updated: thank you for help and comments.
Can someone please remind me, does "INXS" need to be in italics or not?

No, it's a proper noun. But all album titles should be in italics, and individual songs in single inverted commas.
