Great Entry, I enjoy learning about our moonsmiley - moon

A point or two;

smiley - popcornWe're used to supersized things in the 21st Century.

Almost everything you list occurred in the late 20th Centurury - I would suggest just dropping everything after the word 'things'

Gnomon - time to move on

This looks interesting. I'll have to check the figures, because I'm surprised by the 14% figure.

The 14% figure is the difference between the biggest possible and smallest possible moon sizes. The normal supermoon is only 6% bigger than average in diameter, although this is 12% bigger in area.

Personally I don't think people will notice the difference as the effect will be dwarfed by the moon illusion. This fools us into thinking the moon is bigger when it is near the horizon.

I like this. smiley - smiley

The pictures are beautiful, although both the Eiffel Tower and the Parthenon look tatty compared to the moon!

Only one niggle smiley - biro In the last bullet point under 'Other Supermoons to Ogle', shouldn't 'phenomena' be 'phenomenon'?

GB I hope you get a good view of it tonight. It is supposed to be one of the biggest for a while.

smiley - moonI've just seen it - it's glorious!smiley - wow

I didn't expect to be able to see it at all as we're currently being bombarded by ex-hurricane Bertha and the rain was coming down in bucketfuls on the way back from Sheffield today.

smiley - modshould 'phenomena' be 'phenomenon' = yes, I always struggle with this particular wordsmiley - laugh and have changed it nowsmiley - biro

smiley - modI also find percentages completely meaningless unless I'm slicing up a smiley - cheesecake between 4 or 6 people. I suspect each person's view of the Moon is different and who remembers the previous full moon anyway, there's nothing to compare it to as it's long gone and even the Moon is in a different position so it's impossible to judge against normal background/foreground - I went on the info at APOD for the 14% difference in size.
