This is my first post, ladies and gentlemen, so please be gentle with me. The first feedback I would like would be how to get the footnotes to work properly, if possible. I have no doubt that I am missing something fundemental and obvious, but I can't work out what it is. Other than that, I feel the entry is pretty much finished, although any constructive criticism would be most welcome.

I'm sorry, but it's actually a violation of the <./>HouseRules</.> here to post copyright-protected material that you didn't write -- and song lyrics are definitely in that category. We'll need you to remove the lyrics ASAP, otherwise we'll have to request that the entry be hidden by the moderators until you've had a chance to do that.
Thanks!

Yes, you have done something rather odd with the footnotes. We don't use the tags at all for footnotes. We do footnotes like this:
Sometimes there will be a paragraph, and within that paragraph, you'll want to have a footnoteA footnote should be a complete sentence.. Footnotes are useful for all sorts of parenthetical asides, definitions, and references.
Does that help?

ell done, ---, this will make a great entry when it is finished. As --- says though, we can't have the complete lyrics in the song. You can quote short chunks of them, but more than that would be 'breach of copyright'. Take them out now.
You've done good work with your GuideML, but there are a few things you need to change:
1. You should put before each paragraph and after each paragraph. This controls the spacing and makes sure your entry looks good in all skins.
2. Move the footnotes to the place in the text where you want the 'footnote number' to appear.
For example, if you want the text to look like this:
Rasputin².
followed by lots of text followed by
² Rasputin was a mad monk
you put:
RasputinRasputin was a mad monk..
Easy!

Hmmm. Always read the instructions and all that. I read most of the instructions, but obviously not enough of them.
I will try and sort out the quotation problem ASAP, and likewise with the paragraph and footnote problems. *Rolls eyes.*
Thank you to everyone for your helpful comments.

D'OH! I'm trying to rewrite the article to iron out some of GuideML bugs and the copyright problem, but I now can't find out how to hide it so I can do so without being sued! I'm actually at work at the moment, so I can't spend much time messing about with it, but if anyone can tell me how to do this then I would be most obliged.

Don't worry about it. It is the BBC who will be sued, not you. Before that happens, they'll hide it. So just remember to change it when you get home from work.

just go to edit this entry on the page and remove all the lyrics, please.
I want to check though this, but don't have time yet, and it will be pulled by them upstairs

You should now have received an email about it - but if you remove the lyrics, you'll be able to reinstate the entry
We're huge fans of Boney M around here and think Liz Mitchell is a genius.

I've now removed the verbatim lyric quote from the entry, and have replaced it with smaller one- or two-line quotes to illustrate my drift. Hope that solves all the problems.
Sorry for causing so much trouble!

For some inexplicable reason, although I looked through books and checked numerous websites when writing the Boney M bit, I didn't think to check h2g2. If I had, your piece would have probably answered all my questions. Nicely done.

This is a cracking good entry for a first effort (certainly compared to some of the crud that ill-informed newbies are putting into Peer Review at the moment )
Well done, and good to see the lyric problem has been sorted out. I look forward to seeing this on the Front Page.

This is an excellent piece of writing, which really made me smile. It will have no problem being picked.
You still say "Since we do not have that opportunity, however, we must instead examine the lyrics." but you've removed the lyrics. So you should reword that sentence.
Here's how you should link to another entry in h2g2:
German
This is better because it puts the full title of the linked entry in the right margin, rather than just the word "German".
A few minor tweaks:
Following British publishing guidelines, we use 'single quotes' rather than "double quotes" here on h2g2.
to one history's --> to one of history's
Can you check the spelling of 'Oddessey'? The word is normally spelt Odyssey but the group might have spelt it oddly.
