A few weeks back an attempt was made to update the paltry and inaccurate "how to read guitar tab" entry. Unfortunately, it suffered from the same paltriness and inaccuracy.
Here is my humble attempt to do things right.

The biggest problem with this entry is that the really wide tab at the end forces the browser to display the whole thing very wide, making it impossible to read without sideways scrolling, unless you have a 1268-wide screen. Could you shorten some of the tabs to allow the whole thing to fit onto a smaller screen?

You describe tab as a new way of writing down guitar music. I don't think it is new. I think it has been around for hundreds of years.

Your Layla example uses b and r without explaining them. Are they the bends that you describe in the previous section? If so, you'll have to rework that section slightly to explain.

Ah, Gnomon. I knew I could count on you for good comments. I'll have a look and see what I can fix. The long tab should be easy to shorten. I don't think I mentioned when tab was invented, as I don't even know myself. I'll try to make the bends section clearer.

I liked it--very informative.

The formating on my screen isn't the greatest, in that the ends of lines don't match up... I know that's normal, but very annoying!

Indeed, this is far more comprehensive than the edited entry A442883 Guitar Tablature. I'm not at all familiar with the subject matter -- any opinions of whether this is an update or a different thing?

I fixed the typo, but I don't know what to do about the formatting. I sandwiched the tabs in tags so they would be fixed width. Most people should see them right.

Bossel, I'd say this is an update that goes beyond the scope of the edited entry you mentioned.

Should this be published as a separate Edited Entry to the other one, should it replace the other one, or should it be combined with the other one?

If the first, this can continue in Peer Review. If either of the other two, it should be moved over to Update Headquarters. But not until all the "Peers" are happy with it.

There's nothing in the old one that isn't explained in mine. So perhaps this is an update. What's the process for that?

Great entry here! The only thing that I can suggest is that your "Interpreting Online Guitar Tabs" paragraph ought to be surounded by tags to make it a comfortable distance from the headers. Other than that,

Since everyone here is happy with it the procedure is as follows:

If you want this to be put in as a separate entry, say so and wait for a scout to come and pick this entry.

If you want the entry to replace the existing entry or be combined with it, say so here, remove this entry from Peer Review and trot over to Update Headquarters A496451. Put in an Update Request there, but refer to this Peer Review conversation, which should at this stage attached to your entry.

I think it would be redundant for this to be a separate entry.

Theanthrope, you move the thread to the enry yourself, by removing the entry from Peer Review. Go to Peer Review, find your entry in the table and click on the word Remove beside it.
