"Frikadellen" (not Frikadelle"r") have not only spread over northern Germany. They are also known and loved in the South, esp. in Bavaria (You might suffer serious harm calling a Bavarian "northern German").
The only difference is the name: In Bavaria they are called "Fleischpflanzerl" or "Fleischkrapferl", which means something like "meat loaves"

The plural version of the word is not frikadellen, but frikadeller, scince this is in danish, although it is nice to hear that it is also common in the rest of Germany.

Viking,
sorry for trying to correct your Danish, i did not realize that "frikadelle" is also a Danish word. I knew it only in German, and here the plural is "Frikadellen".
Maybe I should improve my Danish
