No, I mean it's become my name. Pretty much everyone I know only knows me by Shadow and wouldn't have a clue who you were talking about if you called me by my birth name.

Ah well, if you're really determined you can make the change, I've known a few other people that have. Mine on the other hand, just seemed to come about naturally over time. I even got a peice of snail mail delivered to me as Shadow.
