Hi, i signed in a few days ago, and i have a question: can i write an entry about a film? And can i write about evry film that is not already present in the edit entries? Or may there be some copyright complication?

Hello – welcome to h2g2!

Yes, you can certainly write about films – do you wish to submit them to become entries in the edited guide? If so, you will need to submit the entry to Peer Review. You can see some examples of film reviews that are in the Edited Guide here: C492 - reading through a couple should give you an idea of what we are looking for.

Other than the fact that the review has to be in your own words (and conform to the other <./>writing-guidelines</.&gtsmiley - winkeye there aren’t any complications.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Thank you very much! smiley - smiley
Another question: i read some entries created many years ago (like 2003 2004 etc.) and uploaded recently (2011, 2012 etc.).
So after an entry became an edit entry, it could be modified?

Entries can indeed be Updated – see A87727936 Updating an Approved Entry for more information about it.

It isn't the Edited entry that is altered, but a copy of it that is amended. Please note that Update suggestions, like other entries, have to go through the Peer Review process and once approved by that are actioned, with the Edited version updated.

1) So everybody can update an entry of another researcher?
2) So if i want to update a very small entry of another researcher becuase i have a lot of things to write about that subject, i can simply write a new entry and submit it in Peer Review? This is not against the rule that say you can write an entry only if there isn't already an entry about that subject?

(The two questions are not connected each other)

Thanks for being patient and helpful, i really appreciate your help smiley - smiley .

Everyone can write an update of someone else's entry, but usually we would encourage people to write articles on new subjects that have not been covered, although if one of the entries that we do have has become out-of-date, then yes, you can place an update into Peer Review. Normally I would recommend you leave the author of the original article a message to say that you are planning on doing an update. We would normally re-write the original article, rather than a new one completely from scratch, acknowledging the original author.
