Gurus have received an email informing us the above Edited Entry has a large number of broken/obsolete links.

Having checked the Entry I can confirm most of them are outside links (mainly BBC), and there is one h2g2 link where the Entry has been removed.

I can give you the list of links, but the curator may prefer to deal with this in their own way.

Thanks lil

Would you email the person back, and thank them for reporting this?

I'll go through this Entry and update it now. It's not one I've come across before.

There's a lot of tidying up needed with this Entry.

I am working on it. - just in case any other Curator sees this post.

When I've finished, I'll post back.

Am still working on it. It requires a total re-sub-edit. Only about a quarter through it so far, but have to go out for the afternoon so this is on my list of things to finish off.

Removed entirely: [and LINK HREF="http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/horizon/1999/future_plagues_script.shtml" to [Chlamydia pneumoniae] bacteria. ] This has nothing to do with animal obesity, nor human health apart from a discovery that the bacteria may be present in a small group of humans suffering from heart disease. This is an interesting link to a documentary script though, but more to do with drug resistant bacteria - nothing to do with obesity or animals. This link and sentence were not found in the original PR copy of this entry. Removed this paragraph, I could not locate any accessible information to support this statement. The original link that was given is not available. [However, recent LINK HREF="http://www.kcl.ac.uk/phpnews/wmview.php?ArtID=1924" TITLE="King's College: Asthma-obesity link uncovered" research at King's College LINK, London has uncovered an immune-system protein, known as promelanin concentrating hormone, which causes inflammation in the lungs, and which is known to increase appetite.] NB there was no paragraph mentioning Asthma in the PR version. Removed paragraphs as these drug trials failed. [The 'obesity vaccine', developed by Cytos Biotechnology, will work by inducing the recipient's immune system to create antibodies that bind to ghrelin and reduce the amount that reaches the brain. This should reduce the hunger signal and make it easier for obese people to stick to a weight-reducing diet. It is considered that this vaccine will be a therapeutic one rather than a preventative one, and will require repeated injections. Animal experiments suggest that the vaccine may well be effective since injections of the vaccine into mice provoked high levels of antibodies against ghrelin. Vaccinated mice fed on a high-fat diet put on 15% less weight than their unvaccinated litter-mates.] Many, many links have been updated. Many of the original links have had titles inserted into the side bar ( they were missing) Other sections have been coded out, due to lack of time to find corroboration for outdated, discredited claims. Additional information entry A13784989 has had [Discredited] added to Title ( there has already been an updated sentence or two saying this drug was withdrawn)
