Good gracious! I bet you wished you'd not started on that Entry?

Apart from all the typos and grammatical errors, what did you think of the Entry as a whole?

I don't think it's such a bad Entry (although it could probably do with a bit more rephrasing here and there).

But... it's linked from A943184 'A History of 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy', as one of just four "examples of existing topics", and I'm certain we can find better. After all, we have an additional ten year's worth of Entries to choose from. (The remaining three examples are equally antique.)

Thanks for dealing with this, Gnomon.

Maybe the 'A History of 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' should be slightly amended at that point with a footnote, saying that these were examples from the time the Entry was written?

Gnomon - time to move on

Done all those except:

"connotations", which I thought was OK.

I repunctuated this:

'What ifs' however cannot be answered

to:

'What ifs', however, cannot be answered

(I prefer "however" to be in second place in a sentence.)

I also removed a link to an unedited entry, and changed the Cairo link to link to the newer entry on Cairo rather than the older act about Cairo taxis.

Thank you for dealing with that so promptly, Gnomon. smiley - ok

"most players will know a large range of opening moves, sometimes up to the twentieth move and all the connotations."

In order to select the best move in any position, the player considers a variety of possible courses... http://www.chess.com/forum/view/game-analysis/20-move-forcing-variation. Choose another word if you wish, but 'connotations' don't enter into it http://oxforddictionaries.com/definition/connotation?view=uk. smiley - smiley

Gnomon - time to move on

Obviously I have a mistaken idea of the meaning of connotations. I thought it meant the same as "consequences".

I've changed this to "consequences".
