"Recycling" of blobs?

Post 1

Jeremy (trying to find his way back to dinner)

Hi,

I wrote an Entry about the Arches NP

http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A599745

which was included into the Edited Guide as

http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A669486.

In the original version I had a blob of the Delicate Arch, which is also mentioned rather prominently in the Entry, and I thought it would have been a perfect graphic for this one. I even remember to have had some contact with your graphics department to get rid of a Goo/Alabaster problem with that pic.

My question is: Is there a policy not to recycle "used blobs" for other Entries? I would accept that, of course, although I'd regret it in this particular case. Or was there another reason not to include it?

I'm asking that because I'd like to know whether it makes sense to search for a suitable blob when writing Entries for the Edited Guide.

Anyhow, thanks a lot for including the Arches NP Entry into the Guide (with or without the pic)! smiley - ok

When a researcher uses a blob in an entry t is sometimes accepter and sometimes removed, you can not know without trying.

It will be interesting to hear for once why one was removed.

BTW, jeremy I tried to e-mail you (I can't remember why though) a while back and couldn't mail to the e-mail of you that I had from the scouts mailing list.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for this - I've reinstated the blob as it is directly pertinent to the entry. We remove recycled blobs when they on have a tenuous relationship to the entry thay are in.

Hope that helps smiley - smiley

Thanks, Ashley!

I was quite sure that the policy should be somehow like you said it is. It's just too logical and sensible (even for the Italics) too ignore it smiley - winkeyesmiley - ok.

Dancer: afaik I still have your email from the scouts list. I'll send you a challenge mail just to get the addy back to you.
