Hi there,
I've just had my first article edited for the Guide (woo-hoo). I was curious, though. Another researcher gets credit (above me, but I assume that's just alphabetical). I saw one new link in the article which the other researcher may have contributed, but should (s)he really get writing credit?
Just wondered about the policy on this.
Thanks,
Jwordsmith

It's actually not alphabetical, it's by user number. Who gets researcher credits is generally determined by the sub-editor and house editor -- if they feel that someone has made a substantial contribution to the entry, the person gets a researcher credit on the entry. I think there may be a plan at some point to have separate designations for "primary author" and "contributing authors" or somesuch, but that's in the future a bit.
Ironically enough, the researcher who is credited on your entry has also complained recently about someone else being credited on one of his entries.

Hi jwordsmith,
I assume you're talking about that link to Hoovooloo, which I've just removed, yes? As Mikey says, it's ordered by U-number, but as you say, it seems odd for his name to have got into the Researchers list just because he was mentioned in a footnote.
It should be sorted now, though.

Thanks for the clarification. Not that I have anything against Hoovooloo, who has been very helpful and welcoming.
