I locked onto H2G2 at my work in a spare few minutes

I made a comment on peer review, no issue

I then edited an entry I wanted to post to PR, adding in a load of italicising and formatting. I tried to preview and got sent to a captua human verification page.

The first 2 pictures actually had no visible numbers or letters in at all. I then went through 15 different sets of the damn things, some of which I must have got correct (others of which used letters that aren't in the roman alphabet or were just two or more letters so deformed nobody could ever guess them).

Eventually I just started clicking through (the refresh button doesn't work, you have to click the tick) to find one that was so obviously unmangled I knew it was definitely correct, and it relented and sent be back to my entry ... however all the changed I'd spent 10 minutes working on had gone.

Please get rid of it, as it has now wasted 30 mins of my time between the lost edits, the faffing with the damn thing and the complaining about the wretched, devil spawn, accursed, doom-laden, hate filled, UKIP voting, sociopathic widget

But apart from that, did you enjoy the experience?

The captcha is nothing to do with h2g2, but the content delivery network it uses. Believe me, if it could be removed it would be.

find the people who run the content delivery network (and also captcha while we're at it), and replace their front door locks on their homes with a captcha system ... not only will it take them ten minutes to get into their house every time, but it will let strangers in if they just click it enough times.

Then they'll change it !

and infact, use captcha 'software' to alter any email or letter they receive so that all the text is captcha mangled.

I heartily approve of the front door locks solution.
