Why is there no 'view counter' on written submissions to let people know how may times someone has clicked on an entry?

for a noob reasercher like myself it would give an idea of how many people have chosen to actually read what you've written

as i'm not a more established reasercher i can only speculate, but i would have thought it would be handy to know what the more popular entrys reaserchers have written

its only an idea and theres probably a good answer why its not included

its just i'm curious.

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

Interesting idea... I don't ever recall that one being put forward. Counters are pretty simple things aren't they? It couldn't be too difficult for Jim to code one into entries...

Mikey the Humming Mouse - A3938628 Learn More About the Edited Guide!

It's been suggested many times over the years. I believe the reason for the rejection was that it would be an additional server strain -- one more item to call from the database every time a page loads.

Plus, given the audience here, I would assume that some people would abuse the feature -- writing a script to reload their entry over and over and over again, causing further server issues.

Would be cool, though. I wonder if it would be feasible if it was for Edited Guide entries only?

smiley - cheers
