Looking at F1716521?thread=365441 it appears that missroberta is a digibox user. A shortage of memory could be causing the symptoms described. Switching to the plain skin will probably help - BRORA has sent the necessary email link. Rebooting the machine might do the trick too.

i press front page, where it says the guide i press families if i click to talk nothing happens and this happens on all subjects..

Are you referring to the life, universe and everything category system? There is a "families" entry (C21) under the life section of "THE GUIDE". This then lists a number of pages (or sub-topics) on that topic. It is on those A-numbered pages (eg A421255) that people might normally leave messages (where it says "start a conversation" or similar).

Though actually <./>Askh2g2</.> is the most popular page for leaving messages of all sorts. Other places would be <./>MiscChat</.>, <./>HowDoI</.> and whatever the talking point of the week is.

I've come across other digibox users who can't access C pages either.

I think it was Jab who tried quite hard to figure out why. There seemed to be something very strange to do with a / character at the end and not being able to go round a loop of C-numbers. It wasn't about not being able to talk though (more about being booted back to the front page).

Looking at C72 (which has a lot of sub-categories as opposed to just pages) in plain, I see a carriage-return and 3 tabs between the end of /dna/h2g2/plain/ and the C-numbers for each item. I can see how that might upset some browsers (eg digibox) when trying to use it as a link. I think this is one for Jim Lynn to fix as it is in his special skin (brunel is fine).
