The way things are ; at least in my view !

Patrick Kenehan

I do not believe that anyone on this tiny insignificant planet knows how our Universe came into existence.
From my own humble observations, I believe that there is a supremely wonderful intelligence, far beyond our limited understanding involved in the fact of life. This involvement includes not only the animal, man but every living creation on the planet Earth, in fact anything with the "Life Essence"from the tiniest microbe to the giant Redwood tree.
I believe that men/women are extremely fallible animals and prone to believe in their own rhetoric concerning their abilities and sense of self worth this despite the fact that they are incapable of creating anything except if they use information and materials already created for them.
The human animal is, in many instances, very gullible and can easily be conned or duped into believing almost anything.
I believe that power and wealth are extremely corrosive and act adversely on the human animal's character and integrity.
The human animal is a very dangerous animal and will instigate the most vicious and often fatal attack on another human or animal if he/she believes the circumstances justify such an attack; sometimes this human animal will attack and kill other animals without any justification whatsoever.
The human animal is capable of perverting almost all of Nature's bounty to his/her own uses ,be those uses to the general good or be they extremely selfish.
I believe that some men and women are blessed with the most wonderful gifts which allow them to produce sounds and sights which give great pleasure to other humans. Other humans, no less gifted, have turned their talents to other outlets and succeeded in creating weapons of mass destruction and also more individual weapons with which humans may kill each other in lesser numbers.
Humans can also be the most selfless of creatures. Some devote their lives to the welfare of others and in doing so can suffer the harshest of deprivations.
Some men and women are capable of the most heroic acts of bravery and show a remarkable degree of courage and self sacrifice in the face of life threatening danger. It has been known for men and women to forfeit their lives so that others might live. For these acts of selfless bravery they seek no rewards or honours for the giving of the ultimate sacrifice.
Throughout history, some men and women have behaved in the most vicious, cruel and inhuman way towards their fellow creatures. No acts too vile or loathsome have been absent from the cesspool portfolio of degradation, suffering and death which these people have inflicted with obvious pleasure on their hapless victims.
This then is my picture of the human race; the good, the bad and the ugly, such as they are. Despite all of the above, I wake every morning and I give thanks to Mother Earth and to whatever Power gave life to her and so gave life also to me and to those I love. I am in my seventies and I do not expect to find any great revelations before I don the nightshirt of Death but my mind looks forward with a certain eagerness to exploreing that great mystery which many believe to be the final act in the comic tragedy of life but then, who knows? The last few words, while there is Life, there is Hope.
