Seven weeks without school. Can life get any better? Arguably, yes! You could have eight, nine weeks without school, but teachers are ALWAYS the sadists we believe they are, and they're not well-intentioned sadists either.
Well, with this holiday it doesn't feel like a holiday. Teachers come up with fantastic ways to spend that spare few weeks ~ English essy! Come on, it's fun! Relax with an English essay!
Or
Tetinus jag! Get your tetinus jag! Free meningitis incredibly-painful-yet-you-won't-feel-a-thing meningitis injection!
Or
Do you mean you've forgotten EVERYTHING you've learned in Chemistry? Revise girl! Come on! Exams coming up!
I think you see my point...
The holidays were kicked off with an incredible start ~ my sister decided it was the perfect morning to come in early and YELL MY HEAD OFF!
Of course we should do away with teachers and little sisters.
And holidays should stay.
Permenantly.
A time for relaxation and some "optional" English reading.

No, I mean the English department say "Optional" and mean "You will read this book seven times, and expect a large test on it on the day you come back to school!"

Different then. When we say optional we mean b******s to it......anyway, do you get option choices?

We got option choices one year ago (well, my year did). I took ~
Maths (aaaaagh!)
English (bleurgh)
French (I had to...)
German (our teacher can't speak German)
Chemistry (our teacher has the worst jokes in the world)
Music (our teacher has jokes to rival the Chemistry teacher's)
Physics (he like electrocuting us)
Computing (our teacher is a sexist pig)
Geography (we have hikes up strange, forbidden glens...)

We work differently - our subjects are forced on us until GCSE starts, when we can choose to drop some subjects and take others, like this. Y's and N's signify what I did.
SUBJECTS THAT CAN BE DROPPED: Drama(y), Music(y), Art(y, thank god!), Technology(y)although extenuating circumstances are necessary, Languages(I take French, n), Geography(y), History(n).
NEW SUBJECTS THAT MAY BE TAKEN: Business Studies(GNVQ, n), Media Studies(n), GCSE PE(you have to learn about the body in great detail as well as regular PE, n), Sociology(the study of people, y), Health and Hygeine Studies(GNVQ, I kid you not, n), Performing Arts(dance, music, drama), German(n), Spanish(y).
WHAT YOU CAN'T DROP: PE(regular), Maths, RE, IT, Science.
Bugger, innit!

Do you take Science GCSE? That's odd... In Scotland, in the equivilant of GCSE (Standard Grade) you choose either Chemistry, Physics, or Biology. You can take one, two or all of them, or if you're really dos you take "Science".
