h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Hi there,

I'm only new here and greeting a few of the locals. I spotted that you are from the north of England (Wales?) I emigrated to Australia with my parents and older Bro. whe I was 7. We came from Durham (Chester Lee Street)in the NE of England. Sadly in the last 33 years I have not had the opportunity to return even for a holliday. I can't remember too much about my life before Australia, but maybe one day I might travel perhaps when I retire.

I was a chef for many years then I moved into road transport where I am now Operations Administrator / Occupational Health & Safety Manager for a large freight company.

I used to write prolificaly both articles and poetry as well as short stroies but for the last 10 years or so I simply havn't had time, now the kids are growing up and much more independant my wife and I have much more time for each other and our hobbies.

Unfortunately I don't get too much time online as the only computer we have is mostly used by the kids for their homework. I'm enjoying surfing around this site and shaking hands with friendly people, I hope to contribute some writing soon.

How long have you been an ACE at this site?
Is there a poetry forum afiliated to this site where I can read & submit, as this might be an easier way to start?

I used to work in Transport too, I was assistant Transport Manager for a smallish freight company. I'm now working for a large chemical company as a senior PA

I've been an ACE for about 4 years now, it doesn't take up much of my time, but we're really busy at the moment what with the film coming out

I live just outside Manchester, but am originally from Wales.
