My smoker roommates are at it again. When I moved into this house, the roommates had said that they would keep the smoke outside so as to not stink up the house. But as time went on, they started smoking inside more and more, and now they only smoke inside. Granted, they smoke in the garage, but they always leave the outside garage door closed and the door between the garage and the living room open. For all the good it does to smoke only in the garage, they might as well smoke in the hallway outside my door.
One of my least favorite things is to come home to bad smells. Think of a combination of stale cigarette smoke, cat feces, and disinfectant spray, and you've got the smell I get hit with when I walk in the front door. Only when I go into my room or go outside do I escape the smell. And even then, I don't fully escape the smell; after breathing the foul air in the common area, I can feel it coating my nasal passages and I can smell it for several minutes afterward.
Is there anyone who lives in Southern California who needs a roommate? I might be moving out soon if the roommates don't get their act together.

Ewww...my roommates are always making cups of coffee in the morning, and then they always leave them half-full in the sink. And I always seem to find them about a week afterward, so the coffee is all nasty and old, and is staining the white cups that I BROUGHT TO THE HOUSE!

Yeah, it takes years for roommates to get used to each others' living habits. My college roommates and I lived together for 5 years, and it was only during the last 2 that we really got along well. The first 3 were rough sometimes.
As for this current pair of roommates, I might decide I want to live by myself rather than get used to these two. My old house worked out really well because we all respected each others' property, and didn't mess with anyone's food/utensils/cleaning supplies without asking. My current roommates are these neo-hippie artistic types who believe in "sharing," which works out to them sharing my stuff because I have everything I need, whereas they do not.

Ah..yeah, see I don't think I could do that. My house is fully (more than fully) stocked with household crap. It's quite enough to have my two preschoolers wrecking everything *grin*

So you have two kids AND a roommate? I don't envy your roommate...
