Following the treaty signed in 1902, the Japanese ordered battleships from the Royal Navy and during the meeting, held in Newcastle upon Tyne, two navy spies hid under the floorboards to hear what size cannon the Japanese requested so that they could make sure that Britain always had the larger.
So during the Russian-Japanese War, Royal Navy trained Japanese Officers in British built Japanese battleships were fighting against Royal Navy trained Russian Officers.
