I'd rather not mess with the inside Yar, since I wouldn't be sure what's what.

For now, I'm too engaged in playing Oblivion (that I bought more than a year ago but never got to work on my laptop) to bother about the sound, just as long as it works.

I must say it makes a nice change having Baurus greet me in a friendly manner and calling me friend - so different from when I first met him and he barked 'stand back, prisoner!' at me!smiley - biggrin

I thought I'd do some of the easier quests first, in order to beef up a bit - only to discover that the enemies beefed up too as I was levelling...smiley - erm

Yeah, Oblivion uses level-scaling, from what I've heard. Not that I'm entirely certain I've ever been in the same room as a computer that could run Oblivion, but ... smiley - winkeye

"Eh - how about smiley - blue ?"

Perhaps a bit obvious, but it'll do! Why couldn't /I/ find it? Is there one for smiley - senior?

I suppose there's a place where I can learn about daedras?
Or perhaps I don't want to know.
Don't you EVER smiley - burger, smiley - cappuccino or <smiley - zzz> ?

Have you noticed? 'capp..' should really be pronounced 'capuKchino' but I've never heard it so, have you?
At east, I /think/ so. My Italian is of the survival variety, and dates from just after the Ark.

Mind you, /I/ wasn't always smiley - senior.........

smiley - cheers

Stayed up way too late last night doing an Oblivion quest I thought would be a piece of smiley - cake; retrieving a family heirloom from some catacombs located on an island. Been there, done that, a walk on the beach - or so I thought.

Turns out that b*st*rd Kurdan gro-Dragol, Orc loan shark, tricked me. There's no heirloom - instead, he had turned this island into hunting grounds. The prey: the people he lures there. Customers: hunters looking for a different and more challenging kind of game.

And as if the hunters weren't bad enough, the place was riddled with traps. Darkness, sneaking, backstabbing, pulse going up, mouth going dry.

I also had some trouble keeping my little gang together - I've teamed up with the Jemane brothers (NPCs). Unfortunately, while both are pretty good fighters, Reynald Jemane appears not to be the sharpest tool in the box as he keeps getting stuck, falling down holes unable to get up for a very long time and so on. Guilbert Jemane, on the other hand, seems much smarter and even though he will have mishaps too, he'll always turn up quickly again.

Anyway, after finally killing all the hunters, surviving all the traps (took a few saved games) and gathering stuff I reckoned would get me off the island, I headed for the exit.

But when I emerged from the catacombs, only Guilbert was accompanying me, Reynald being stuck down some hole again. And outside, I was met by the sight of that Orc killing off a weaponless, defenseless man. Unfortunately, the man had a big gaming debt, and I had promised his wife to try and find him. That's how I ended up in this whole mess - and in vain!

And as if that wasn't enough, the Orc then turned to me, grinning evily, telling me the key I had in my inventory was a fake. All that killing and violence, and for what? I was absolutely furious!

The Orc told me he really didn't need the gaming husband any more, as he now had me as the main attraction - a much more challenging prey!smiley - steam

Suddenly Guilbert ran off, having spotted an archer above us, leaving me alone with this scum bag, who was taller, heavier and bulkier than I. And uglier. No way José that I was letting him get away with this evil scheme!

It was a tough fight, but I've become quite good handling a sword, and with a series of quick slashes I drew him backwards as soon as he droppped his guard. Finally, I managed to finish him off. He dropped his war axe as he fell, and I recognised it as the 'heirloom' he had described. Fortunately, for me, it wasn't magically enhanced, not like my Frost sword. He did carry some cool armour though, that I nicked.

I was just about to start tending my wounds when the arrows started raining down upon me. Guilbert had obviously failed to locate and take out the archer. Nothing to do but to hide and down a couple of health potions, then run upstairs and fight the archer too.

And then, return to the catacombs to pick up Mr Daft, Reynald.

And then trying to get the brothers back to the city. In order to get the quest to work, I had to get to and from the island by boat, but it was a small boat, and there was no chance I'd manage to get the brothers into it. So we swam.

And then I returned to the island and took the boat back. And then... *sighs* I had to tell Loche's wife that her husband was dead.

All in all a busy night, but as a good girl I saved the game, turned off the computer and went straight to bed. But after a gaming session like that, do you think I could really go to sleep right away?

Weeeeeeeeeeeell, I just Don't know What To Say. Which must be a first! Might I suggest a slice of toast and a thick piece of cheese, washed down with cocoa laced with, let's see....vodka, rum and brandy?

I thought myself daring when I/looked/,/looked/ mind, at Solitaire. Life is too short, and having got this far....

But I do understand why you needed a new 'pooter. Don't break it, will you. smiley - biggrin

Well, I'm considering writing a fan fiction story for smiley - thepost - so I'm practising trying to describe incidents in the game as if I had experienced them myself, in person!smiley - biggrin

I suggest a supperful of indigestible horrors, then wake up during the nightmares, and write it all down. Or does it /have/ to be based on 'real (sic) life'?

smiley - choc and smiley - friedegg

smiley - corncob and smiley - toffeeapple

Bet that got your juices going. No, you may *not* withdraw.

I got a small confidence boost last night while playing Oblivion. One of the main characters is Martin, the emperor's illegitimate son, and now the only heir to the throne.

He didn't know this before, until I told him (and had a hard time convincing him I told the truth) and when I found him he was working as a priest.

At the time, I percieved him as a gentle and humble person, but lately he's become more firm in his manners, and I'm beginning to see some of his father in him. Yes, I met the emperor briefly, just before he was assassinated.

Anyway, I handed in a valuable item to Martin that he needed for an important ritual, and he looked me square in the eyes and said, with conviction:

'The Septim blood may flow through my veins, but YOU have the soul of a HERO!'

Oh gosh...smiley - blush

That's a pity. You'll have to rely on Oblivion, then, which seems somewhat unhopeful.

I'm glad you have the eyes of a hero, though. It must be useful on the buses......smiley - rofl
