Home is where all my stuff is

Well, after a succesful (or moderately so, at least on the partying scale) I am back in good old Chillicothe OH for the summer.
It is very scary to realize that I have 1) moved six times in the past two years and 2) the grand total of my possesions can fit into the back of one subcompact car.
There's a lot of questioning that comes with a move. It makes you prioritize your stuff, and not just what to keep and what to throw away. Suddenly, you realize that your computer is the last thing to pack because you don't want to go a single morning without checking mail, downloading your horoscope and visiting your favorite sites. It's all a matter of what has to go in the last box because you have to be able to find it the instant you get home.

you may beat me on the number of times moved but whittling your life down to what will fit in a small car (what is a sub compact BTW) doesn't compare to fitting it into one 22 Kilo (50 pound) suitcase.
it was my third move in 18 months. I must say I found the whole thing liberating. got rid of tons of junk, the hardest things were my books, gave them to salvation army (mostly). When it came down to it almost everything was completely unimportant. just junk you know?

A sub-compact is just a classification for a REALLY small car(by american standards). A VW Golf, for example, is a sub-compact. the car I was referring to was a Toyota Echo.
I know what you mean about packing your life into a suitcase: I spent a year abroad in Denmark. It is very tough deciding what you bring with you and what you leave behind. And then you just pray what you did decide to bring doesn't get lost by the airline. My sister always says that when she checks baggage, she never really expects to see it again. The poor girl flew cross-country (San Fransisco to Columbus) at least twice a year all through high school.
Moving teaches you that it's all just stuff.
