...since I lost my Dad to stomach cancer.
Mum, my sister and I are going for lunch at the Pear Tree in Humberston. Yvonne said she'd be bringing some flowers for Mum on our behalf, so I've bought her some.
You all know what I thought of my Dad. I still miss him and will continue to until my dying day. Someone like that can never be replaced, you just learn to live without them.
I don't often now, because of how he suffered in those last months, at least our grief was relieved knowing he was out of pain at last. But today I'm going to be letting them flow because I miss my Dad and he's Not Far, but far enough that I can't hug him or kiss him.

Thank you dear friends
It was much more upbeat than previous years, sharing good memories instead of dwelling on the last days in the Hospice, which are still too difficult to talk about without welling up.
Gordon joined us and my mother and sister treated him like part of the family now

That's good news GB. Is it really that long? It feels much more recent, as it must for you. I am glad some of the pain is easing.
I am still waiting for my other half to have is op. the outcome of which is in question, but I still think of other people with Christmas approaching, it can be such a happy time or quite the opposite and we never know what to expect.
Make the best of every day is all I can say.

Gordon *is* part of the family now.
You've a good man there.
Just as my husband has a good woman behind him*
* well, I have to be behind, in case he falls - unless we're going *down* stairs, then I'm in front
Loving the purple dress, btw

You can call me TC Posted Nov 20, 2010
Time does fly, doesn't it? It's so lovely that you can commemorate it together. I can't do that, living so far away, but I always phone my mum if it would have been my father's birthday, day of his death or their anniversary.

It truly does not seem so long since we lost Frank GB! Almost like yesterday in fact. Fortunately, I still get correspondence from the hospice.
Take heart that your Dad is still with you in spirit. I lost mine On New Year's Eve in 1979 and it still seems that he is just not in.
If I can manage it, I will scan a section from a funeral service I attended in London last week; which seems to sum things up rather well.
I've got a rather vague feeling that you have changed your e-mail address; so if you have and want to re-send to me, I will forward this to you.
