Sho - employed again!

What is it with online cinema reservations?
I want 2 tickets for Captain America. In the row I want there are 3. But I can't reserve two because that leaves one single seat. Which the cinema presumably believe they can't sell. So now instead of definitely selling 2 and possibly the one later (i've been to films before and split up from my friends because I've really wanted to see it) they are left with the possiblity of not selling 3.

Well annoying.

Any why does it cost more for you to serve yourself online (surely cheaper for the cinema) than queing up in the cinema and buying your tickets?

Really irritates me. Surely I'm doing the cinema a favour when I pay in advance and serve myself.

Really, it costs more? Mine costs the same. smiley - grr
I am a bit peeved because in the confusion about having to reselect my tickets I reserved rather than bought them. Which means i have to get there during the busiest period and queue to collect them smiley - grr

it had better be good smiley - biggrin

70p booking fee if you book online. Which properly WTF for me. What a scam!

Same price here in France whether you buy online or at the cinema itself.
But you earn a few more loyalty points if you get your tickets online.

There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

The Drafthouse has assigned seating now, BG. They started doing it shortly before I left, so about 18 months ago.

I haven't been to the cinema much in a few years. I'm waiting for an Alamo Draft House on my side of town.

There was a story on the evening news the other day about how ticket sales are down this year again. But box office take is up a bit because they've raised ticket prices so much. Now they're starting to try bargain prices for weeknights. "Bargain"... yeah.

But my reason for staying away was I didn't want to go to prison.

I just knew that the next time some teenager kicked the back of my seat while talking on his cell phone and spilling his 5 litre soda down the floor under me that I would beat one within an inch of his life and I'd get nicked for aggravated assault. And I would be aggravated indeed.

I haven't been to the flicks since I left the Drafthouse for very similar reasons.

well, aside of The Baby Incident last year when we went to see Thor 2 I don't usually have problems with people at the cinemas we go to

I prefer assigned seating because if you live, as I do, a long way from the cinema you can book in advance and be sure of sitting together and not right in front of the screen. When it takes an hour to get there and it's a popular film I'd have to spend all day going to the pictures and that's not on.

What I really can't stand and it will eventually kill the cinema experiene for me is the Nachos thing. Who needs freaking nachos and cheese or whatever. Just go to dinner first. Gits.

I really really really loved the film and it was orth the sress

Delighted to hear that you enjoyed the flick! Mr Nerd and I will try to catch if it gets booked around here in 2D. Its evil 3D twin is starting April 3rd.

Secretly Not Here Any More

This is why I like Cineworld. It's cheaper booking online, and it's unreserved seating. So no issues.

You can call me TC

I've just checked. My local cinema doesn't do online bookings. I never even thought to look for online booking possibilities and have always rung up and booked a few hours ahead and could always choose my seat. I have to go to the till and pick the tickets up and pay the same as I would if I just turned up without a reservation. The whole point is that I can get a better seat and also be sure to get a seat at all. It's a 20 minute drive that I would rather not do if there are no places left.

However, we normally go on a Sunday evening, and invariably get a seat. I once went on a Saturday and regretted it - the behaviour of the audience was terrible!

It's a small private cinema, but the programme is not art house and they don't show many in the original English. I go to watch blockbusters, action movies and German films with my husband.

For films with the original sound track, I go to another cinema. Have just checked their website: They don't do online booking at all, either. I have always phoned ahead as with the other one. It's a 40 minute drive or a 55 minute tram ride, so I want to be sure of my place there, too, before I leave home.

Phone bookings always involve reserving a certain seat, but I've never been told I can't have an empty seat for any reason.
