Many many years ago, as a teenager home from boarding school, I used to listen to BFBS. I think I mentioned in my bit about John Peel that my mum used to tape his BFBS show for me while I was out galivanting.
He did these fantastic trailers which had nothing to do with the show, but were little pieces of brilliance.
Back then Dave Raven did the mid-morning (ie. housewives) show on BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting Service). Now he does several shows on BFBS 2 (grown up version of the station, featuring lots of Radio 4 shows) one of which is Raven the Blues. Fantastic music.
He did a trailer for last week's show, mentioning John Peels's old trailers, which prompted me to email him: nobody else had mentioned the trailers. I also mentioned some of the cringeworthy Listeners' Top Ten things he used to play back on the housewive's show.
Anyway, as I was driving to work I heard this week's trailer. And he mentioned that prompted by an email from Germany, he was going to blow the lid on the top tens.
I was all the way to work.
So tonight i listened to his show. He liked my mail, which was nice, and he loved my email address (which is pretty cool) which also made me then he played me a fantastic rockin' blues track. More
Isn't it odd how getting a mention on (international) radio gives you a buzz?

It's an even bigger buzz when you ring up the DJ to comment on what he's just been talking about and he puts you live on air.
And I coped!

I would be lost for words in that situation, GB. But I can fully understand the buzz you get from your 15 minutes of fame, Sho.
