Sho - employed again! Started conversation Apr 28, 2007
I've just been to Amazon. We want to introduce The Gruesome Twosome to a much better Invisibility Cloak than Harry Potter's one.
So we've ordered Eric The Viking. And for me it doesn't hurt that I absolutely lurve and adore Tim Robbins
I've also ordered some books for me, one of which I will introduce the Gruesomes to - but only when they're confident enough to read a whole English book for themselves (because I'll ). Of course, I'll have to be on hand to explain that it's not like that now, nor will it ever be like that again.
So, as well as my DVD I'm waiting for:
The Man Who Knew Too Much: Alan Turing and the Invention of the Computer
and
The Diary of a Young Girl.: The Definitive Edition - Anne Frank (apparently it has diary entries not included in the original edition)

Talking of Alan Turing, did you ever see that Station X about Bletchly Park?

Sho - employed again! Posted Apr 28, 2007
yes, and I watched Enigma
Station X was far better
I've even spoken to people (women as well as men) who worked there and other places... during my former career in the world's 2nd oldest profession

Alan Turing was a truly brilliant man

Sho - employed again! Posted Apr 28, 2007
Indeed. It's such a shame that he didn't get more credit for the computer, maybe his life would have been different

Maybe, just one of those brilliant men history forgot

and, of course, he suffered from massive bigotry

Reefgirl (Brunel Baby) Posted Apr 28, 2007
Yes he did, things would have been a hell of a lot different today

Was Station X the one with Derek Jacobi acting as Turing?

I'm not sure if they deliver to Germany but I find play.com a lot better than Amazon. No postage to pay either, and the stuff I order is here within two days.

The Station X I was talking about was a documentry series about Bletchley Park, I think it was shown on Channel 4, but I did see that drama about Turing with Derek Jacobi

postage to Germany would be more expensive, I think? Maybe I should check them out
But I also get points for my Payback card from Amazon, so I don't mind. And my stuff has been despatched today

ah, I don't have a credit card, it would be impossible.
But I'm happy with Amazon, books are shipped free, and if I'm not getting books I can usually get up to the €20 required for free shipping

Amazon (dot ca) has amazed me a number of times. The day after I get a shipped-email, I find a packet in the mail-box.

I Amazon
usually I get my packet right after it's been posted too. In fact, usually if I order before lunchtime, I get it the next day
My Amazon parcel is on the way, but today is a holiday (yaaayyy! we get a day off for being drones. Or is it Proles? Anyway, who cares, it's a day off) so I hope it will arrive tomorrow.
In any case, I'm fully expecting to be watching Erik the Viking this weekend

Just dragging along this week, sleeping a lot, etc. But I see my therapist tomorrow, so maybe she will have some insights into getting me out of this depression. Other than that, things are fine, LOL, Micio is doing well and the weather has been beautiful.
