as for the cellphone joke...
B'Elana used the British version - mobile (she's German)
I would more likely use the German version - handy (I'm British)
Gradient used the American - cellphone (he's British)
(it always takes me a while to remember that 'mobile' is a phone and not something that hangs above a baby's bed!)

Don't worry Sho, I use the 'handy' version here, people would probably give me odd looks if I called it mobile. And 'Mobiltelefon' is just too long.

Well, now I know the German term I'll use that to confound and annoy the Locals.
What I really need are some German lessons - at least two of my collegues are fluent. (One's a German ex-pat and one's an American brought up in Saudi by German parents. No, I can't work that one out either.)

well... as you know my German is perfect
but since I speak with a Dutch accent (and now, apparently, I speak English with a German accent... ) I'll leave the lessons to B'Elana!
