Sho - employed again!

I'm not too sure if I mentioned here that my lovely (not) employers are paying most of the subscription for us to a local fitness centre. Instead of €45 I pay €15. And now lunchtimes have been rejigged, I can go about twice a week at lunchtime (typically Tuesday & Thursday) and two evenings (Monday and Friday - smiley - chef has Monday off so I don't have to run home for the childminder, and on Friday I don't collect the Gruesomes until 6:30pm from ballet, since I (can) finish at 3:30pm that gives me time for a good work-out and a smiley - run)

It's fab, because usually in the winter I don't run - there are only 2 lighted streets in my villge, and pounding 10km (I usually do 5km) round those is very boring to say the least. I'm not as worried about being jumped on if I go through the (unlighted) fields as stepping in a pothole and not being found (since I have to run after the Gruesomes are in bed)

I'm a worry-wort mum anyway and don't like leaving them alone for the half-hour or so that I'm out.

So the gym has meant that I can get ready for the spring season of Volksläufe (... er, fun runs?) which I have picked out.

Only now I can't run for 1, probably 2 weeks, because I have chipped my "meniscus" (some jobby in my knee). All I know is that it hurts like buggery, and testing it out on a very gentle 10 minute run today was a Very Silly And Painful Thing To Do. smiley - cry

Walking is painful, moving after I've been in one position for more than 5 minutes hurts a lot and brings me out in a sweat. Heck, it just hurts all the time.

And I can't run smiley - wah the one thing that keeps me sane. (and now I'll probably get really fat as well.

Life... don't talk to me ab...oh, look, smiley - cake

Sport ist Mord. At work one girl is walking around with her wrist in plaster (from playing handball), another colleague has had both knees operated on (football), etc., etc.

Still - that's no consolation. I still sympathise and wish you better. You're very lucky that the company does that for you.

Just you do whatever it takes to get better!

I envy you - I hate running, but it's such great exercise. Hope you'll be back pounding the streets soon.
