Welcome to H2G2, earth edition. I'm Shorty, one of the Assistant Community Editors around these parts and one of my jobs is to welcome newbies to the site and make them feel welcome

Thanks, Shorty. My techno skills are barely minimal but I've been on Earth forever...don't know if that'll help much but I do know there are some highly skilled artisans hanging around h2g2 so inspiration abounds.
