h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Hello bluejam - I'm getting in touch because you're one of the people who seemed to be objecting to entry A210006 on Indie Music. The thing is, I've recently found out that it isn't an edited guide entry!

Apparently it isn't - and has never been - accepted into the Edited Guide, but there used to be a link to it from the Edited Guide entry on London Indie Clubs. Which made most people, including me, believe that that bilge WAS part of the Official Guide.

I reckon this also made everyone believe that the Edited Guide entry on Indie had already been written. It hasn't, so I'm trying to get some people together to make the definitive article. And looking at what you posted before, I thought you might be interested in working on creating it. The work is in progress here - A893892 - and it's in the Collaborative Writing Workshop for your comments, which would be very welcome.

You're lucky you caught me here - I know it's 6 days since you posted this, but it's been a year or two since I've last been on this site! Putting it back in my bookmarks, though....

Anyway, I've had a look at the new entry, looks very good so far. Not sure what else I can add because (A) it's already seems very good and (B) I really haven't got much time on my hands at the moment.

Hmmm... it's good that a distinction has been made between the literal definition as indie music (on independent labels) and the more popular meaning ("indie rock"). Perhaps a little mention could be made of the sort of indie lifestyle/fashion thing that was perhaps more evident in the 90's than today? "Indie kids", Melody Maker, Indie Clubs (the entry on which I wrote and is now wayyyy out of date), that sort of thing.
