The account above is spartan but reasonable accurate apart from the placement of the last sentence, which should belong to the section on RC not CCI. CCI is healthy and thriving. Local communities are self governing and act in a federal way, combining resources for conferences and training, sharing individual versions of theory and practice, sometimes amounting to language and style rather than substance.
CCI of its nature, involves developments outside the original version using insights and practices from other disciplines so long as they can be accomodated within the spirit and boundaries of the agreed approaches, such as equal time, and client-self-direction and a shared model the partner can support. Most teachers have been trained in other approaches which helps validate the core approach and understands its limits and limitations. Some have explored these boundaries by including meditation in the core, to develop "mindfulness" or tap into our existing enlightenment.

Since I wrote my reply, I acknowledge the earlier replies and the inaccuracies I glossed over. I offer a much better account of the differences between RC and CCI in an article by John Heron at http://www.co-counselling.org.uk/practice/paradigmshift.html.
