Just looked at your home page after you dropped in on mine - so kind and welcoming (and makes my page seem a little less friend-less).

My how impressive! (your page, that is).

Incidentally, are you a fan of the Goon Show, as your stage direction-like speech in postings sounds eerily familiar with Bluebottle's patter.

Go on! Nope, never was familiar with the Goon Show until now. The stage directions come from participating in some of the forums here that are actual virtual places, like the Aroma Café and others.

There is a Bluebottle who is a regular here http://www.h2g2.com/U43530 -- I don't know if his name came from the Goon Show.

*looks sad with quivering lip that Goon Show has not penetrated to outer lying regions of Earth*

I'm guessing h2g2's Bluebottle does take his moniker from The Goon Show, as he also has a friend called "Eccles", another character from the show.

You should be sorry you missed it, it was one of the seminal influences on modern sketch comedy.

But enough of that, I must fly back to real life (and that annoying obstacle called work).

My father was the one who introduced me to the Goon Show when I was seven, laughing hysterically in the car with tears pouring down his cheeks. I wasn't old enough to understand the sense of humour nor could I follow the chopping and changing and stage directions. But I always remembered dear old Dad's near misses in our autmoboile when I listen to the shows now.
