Hi and welcome to h2g2 - I am vegiman and have around on site for about a year now. If it is the friendly type of people you are looking for - You have found them - This must be one of the most friendly sites on the internet. The natives dont bite.

The site might be running a bit slow from time to time, there are a lot of new people login in as Douglas Adams (DNA) is on a publicity tour. It will speed up when things settle down a bit.

If you want any help just ask and you will find an answer, although I doubt if it will be 42

The first thing I suggest you do is go to the front page ( http://www.h2g2.com ) and put the 'who is on line link' on your home page.
