I put that as subject title so the other hardworked ACES realise you've been "dealt with"!
The site is undergoing a lot of changes right now, we've had an influx of youngsters (*wobviously we have to make sure they are OK) & troll types (not easy to deal with) & migrants from other messageboards...so you are possibly seeing this place at a rather stressed time.
*wobviously, i shall let that marvellous typoo rest!
It IS a great site & i say that without prejudice. The "community spirit" is definitely foremost, the Guide Entry writing is part of that & as a Wiki person, you would be very valued on that aspect alone.
But i think the difference is that you would also be valued as a person who may sometimes want to get to know others without it necessarily being material for an article.
But we don't want it to degenerate into "just" a chat site; hence the current debates.
It's basically "what it says on the tin" & you are very welcome; we need intelligent Researchers here & i feel sure you could contribute a lot.
Have some & & go for a ......

I know what dealing with young users and trolls is like.
I definitely look forward to one day having something on the edited guide, but for now, I'm just getting used to it all.
I have a question. How do articles get edited? Is the original poster pretty much the only person who makes changes to his/her article? What about the UF?
Okay, that was three questions, but you get the idea.

Oh, and on Wikipedia, I have done a ton of copyediting (mainly on the English version, but see http://en.wikipedia.org/User:Cromwellt for all the projects I am involved in), some new article creation (particularly on http://simple.wiktionary.org, which is technically a dictionary wiki, but the same idea and a sister site), some translation (especially to/from Spanish, since that is my second language), templates, etc., etc.
I love Wikipedia, and I think I will always edit there. I hope I'll soon be able to say the same for h2g2.

Why in the world is "My Preferences" limited to what skin I prefer?

*pokes Terri out of the way*
Everything is defaulted to Brunel (which is the best, of course)
You can also change your Tag in there or add bits to it, if you like..

Hello Cromwellt
<>
A53209
is the best place to start.
Create an entry, write your entry, pop it into Peer review when you feel its ready.
Make a page or two of your entries (like mine: A4882917 for the Edited Guide and A4004209 for everything)
You retain control until it's picked by a Scout, then a new page is made by the editors, which you can't edit.
The sub-ed should liaise with you before it's returned to the eds for the queue to the Front Page.
You can object to any alterations made to your entry, and you can report any errors/omitions/additions at Editorial Feedback.
Reviewers like entries to be in Guide ML, which isn't that different to editing at Wiki, the clinic is here:
<./>GuideML-Clinic</.>
If you have any problems, give one of us a shout, we're here to help

I am quite frankly useless at the stuff; but do know a lot of people on here; as you can see there are many folks around ready to be friendly & help out.
Spanish as second language? All i know is Hola & maybe paella!! But know someone on here who lives in Spain, i can introduce you if you like.
