Just to add also that the sci-fi comi 2000AD also ran the comic strip versions of the SSR and SSRFP.
They were published a good 10 years ago (from progs 140-151 and around prog 400) so you may have to look through the second-hand comic stalls to find them.
From what I remember they were excellent depictions by the infamous 2000AD artist Carlos Ezquerra and got me reading the SSR books.
